Ralph C. Lumbres (b. 1990 Cagayan de Oro, Philippines) is an interdisciplinary artist (sculpture, video, installation) whose practice also encompasses other fields such as performance, education, and community development. He is the founder of Salikhain Kolektib, an interdisciplinary collective that creates participatory art and research projects in communities in the Philippines. Recently, he represented Salikhain as they participated and exhibited in documenta fifteen through GUDSKUL Collective Studies Program.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts majoring in Sculpture from the University of the Philippines – Diliman. He was a scholar at the Philippine High School for the Arts where he majored in Visual Arts.
As an educator, he was a lecturer at Kalayaan College–Fine Arts, and College of Saint Benilde–School of Design and Arts. He also worked as a learning experience designer for Habi Education Lab.
Ralph is a fellow of the Japan Foundation Asia Center’s HANDs! Project and a research fellow of ColLaboratoire by Cognovo Foundation, University of Plymouth, and University of the Philippines Open University. He is currently a resident artist of Space Ppong from September to November 2023 (Gwangju, South Korea). He was also a resident artist for PARADISE AIR Longstay Program 2021, Koganecho Bazaar 2020, and Washi +, 2020-2021. Currently, he resides in Yokohama, Japan as part of Koganecho Area Management Center’s Artist-in-Residence Program.
